Here are answers to common questions about DemandMind — from forecasting and trending insights to seasonality, exports, and data safety.
DemandMind compares upcoming predicted demand with recent sales activity to detect products that are gaining momentum or slowing down. This helps you act early on trends rather than reacting late.
Yes. Many merchants use DemandMind’s trending product insights to guide advertising spend, promotions, and campaign planning based on which products are most likely to perform.
Absolutely. DemandMind is designed to support inventory planning by providing clear, SKU-level forecasts that help you decide how much to restock and when.
No. DemandMind does not modify your storefront or theme. All forecasting is processed securely outside of your store, without affecting page speed or checkout.
Seasonality means certain products sell primarily during specific periods of the year (for example: holidays, summer collections, or back-to-school items). DemandMind lets you tell the system when a product is expected to sell, so forecasts reflect real buying patterns.
For seasonal products, DemandMind focuses learning on in-season periods, reduces noise from off-season months, and generates forecasts that match realistic seasonal demand patterns instead of averaging sales across the year.
Only for seasonal accuracy. Evergreen products work automatically with no setup. Seasonal products benefit from assigning a season family (for example: Christmas, Summer, Back-to-School, or Custom). You can update classifications anytime.
If a product is not assigned to a season, DemandMind treats it as evergreen by default. You’ll still get a forecast, but it won’t account for seasonal demand windows.
Custom Season lets you define your own selling window using start and end dates (MM-DD). For example: 11-15 → 01-10 (holiday season), or 03-01 → 05-31 (spring collection). Custom seasons support year-wrap windows automatically.
For reliable seasonal forecasting, at least 12 months of history is recommended, and 2+ years improves accuracy significantly. If history is limited, DemandMind can still run a forecast and may show a confidence notice.
Yes — anytime. You can switch a SKU between evergreen and seasonal, move it between seasons, or update custom season dates. DemandMind always uses the latest classification on your next forecast run.
The Action List is a dashboard view that turns forecasts into clear next steps. It highlights what to reorder, what may stock out, and what may be overstocked — so you can act without digging through spreadsheets.
Not currently. DemandMind shows stock and forecast alerts inside your dashboard after you run the app. This keeps everything in one place and avoids notification noise.
Stockout Alerts compare forecasted demand with your current on-hand inventory and a supplier lead time estimate. If you’re projected to run out before a replenishment could arrive, DemandMind flags the SKU so you can reorder earlier.
Lead time is the number of days it typically takes for inventory to arrive after you place a purchase order. DemandMind uses lead time to determine whether you still have enough runway to restock before stocking out. If you don’t have supplier-specific lead times yet, you can start with a default and refine later.
Dead Stock Alerts identify SKUs with inventory on hand but low predicted demand. This helps you catch slow movers early, reduce cash tied up in inventory, and decide whether to promote, bundle, discount, or pause reorders.
Alerts and action items are generated when you run DemandMind. This ensures results are based on the latest store data and your most recent forecasting run.
Seasonal Mapping allows you to forecast a new or low-history SKU by linking it to another SKU with similar behavior. For example, mapping a new holiday candle to last year’s holiday candle so the forecast can learn the seasonal pattern.
Planned Quantity is for when you already know your seasonal target. Example: “I plan to sell 500 units during the holiday season.” DemandMind uses that target as an anchor and distributes it across the selling window.
Plus users can upload additional sales files in CSV or Excel (XLSX) format to combine multiple sales channels into a single forecast. This is designed for merchants selling through POS, marketplaces (Amazon, Etsy, eBay), wholesale, or external systems.
Use file uploads if you sell across multiple channels and want one unified demand forecast. For example, combining Shopify online sales with POS, Amazon, Etsy, eBay, or wholesale data. If you only sell on Shopify, you usually don’t need to upload files.
Yes. DemandMind merges Shopify sales with uploaded external sales data to produce a single multi-channel forecast. This helps you plan inventory using your true total demand across channels.
DemandMind will flag forecasts with limited history and show confidence indicators. External file uploads and SKU mapping can help improve forecasts for new or multi-channel products.
No — and intentionally so. Real-time stock movement is useful for stockout alerts and replenishment timing, but it does not predict future demand. DemandMind focuses on true demand forecasting, with trends and operational signals layered on top.
Yes. Depending on your plan, you can export forecasts in CSV, Excel (XLSX), and PDF snapshots for sharing and planning.
The Executive PDF is a shareable summary report designed for planning meetings. It provides a snapshot of forecast outlook, key demand drivers, and high-priority action items — without requiring someone to log into Shopify.
Yes. DemandMind only accesses the data required for forecasting and never asks for your Shopify password. Data is handled securely and used solely to generate predictions and insights.
No. DemandMind is built to avoid storing customer personal information (like customer names, emails, or addresses). The app focuses on order and product-level data needed for forecasting.
Store-connected data is retained only while the app is installed. Upon app uninstall, store data is scheduled for deletion and is typically removed within 7 days to protect against accidental uninstallations.
